Another petit voyage I made was to Reims where my friend did her two month stage. It’s a lovely little Champagne town 40 minutes away from Paris, perfect distance for an easy and quiet day trip away from the city.

It’s funny how the busier you get, the more productive you are. Even though I’m so busy during the week and have absolutely no life outside the restaurant (even to buy milk at the store!), I made it a point not to become a tired hermit and use my off days to the fullest. So, with good company I made a few day trips outside of Paris/France and detoxed the stress of the week as a worn out tourist.

At the end of August I had the most amazing time during a trip to Croatia. Not only did I spend it with my nearest and dearest best friend, but the beautiful Dalmatian coast, food, an mini adventures were better than I ever expected for this vacation. It was sad to leave and come back to the bipolar dreariness of Parisian weather, but my batteries feel recharged and ready for cuisine phase two.

Apart from exploring Thessaloniki, my friend took me around Chalkidiki, a series of peninsulas in northern Greece. We stayed overnight in one village called Afitos and did a day trip to a very small beach called Kavourotripes. Both were amazingly scenic, especially Kavourotripes, and on the way we ate some really great food as well.

Despite the ridiculous amount of chocolate shops in Belgium, we (my sister, her good friend, and I) actually spent more time overindulging in frites, mussels, and beer. Some of it was good and some of it was bad, but coupled with all of the sites and good company, the overall experience was wonderful.
