I do not understand the forming of the dough into a ball after the log is made but this sounds so good --- do fold the ends together and make a ball???

Try this: Make the olive oil dough with lemon infused olive oil. Mix in 1 - 2 tbsp each of chopped fresh rosemary and lemon zest when you make the dough. Before baking, sprinkle a little coarse salt on the crust. DELICIOUS!

Try parchment paper to transfer the dough to a hot oven stone. Your bread will hold it's shape and won't stick.

Just came across your blog via Foodgawker and I'm definitely going to try this recipe of bread, which looks really delicious. I may also try it with Parmesan cheese and sundried tomatoes, or nuts.
I've also looked through your other recipes, some of which are now in my list of to-do recipes, and your blog's gone directly into my RSS reader!
